Oneiric – Wordplay Wednesday™ 05/29/2019

Relax. Rejuvenate. Recalibrate. Dream On.

Life on a roller coaster from hell? Time to hop off the life carousel that spins in circles and goes nowhere?

Have you reached a crossroads in life when it’s essential to step back, take a long, honest look at your life path, and recalibrate? Any quiet, meditative state will work, particularly …

ONEIRIC (ō niʹrik) adj. – of or having to do with dreams. [WW #218]

It’s said that dreams have significant impact on our waking lives. If only we knew how to interpret them! There are those who believe they have the answers to interpreting our dreams—but will their oneiric methods truly work for everyone?

Physically speaking, one of my go-to philosophies is “every body is different.” Which is why fad diets don’t work for everyone. That applies to our minds as well. A good oneiric quote or two for you …

Dreams are illustrations... from the book your soul is writing about you. ~ Marsha Norman

Dreams are renewable. No matter what our age or condition, there are still untapped possibilities within us and new beauty waiting to be born. ~ Dale Turner

But turning your dreams into literal translations is where I part from common psychology and “dream interpreters.” For instance, says oneiric website, PsychologistWorld.com, “To dream of the ocean when it is calm is propitious.” And conversely, “To be far out on the ocean, and hear the waves lash the ship, forebodes disaster in business life, and quarrels and stormy periods in the household.”

True for everyone? How are we to know? I, for one, love the sound of waves lapping against the ship’s hull. It lulls me into a pleasant, oneiric state. Dreams are an enigma of life.

Who are those who think they know what dreams mean—to you? Unique in mind and body, we must be honest with ourselves. No one knows us as well as we do. Use that knowledge. Become your own oneiric interpreter. Challenge yourself … all individual power comes from within.

Word Challenge: ONEIRIC. Re-imagine yourself and your life path, as you slip softly into an oneiric week of dreamy writing.

Learning knows no prejudices or boundaries, and it isn’t fattening! Expanding your mind is a no-cost, simple joy. Do you feel that way too? What’s your inspiration? Share your creative genius and Wordplay Wednesday comments below.
