And They Lived Happily Ever After!
Are “we” ready with tiaras and ceremonial
swords for this weekend’s finery event? Of course we’re speaking in the Royal
“we” as the world will surely come to a halt while the latest Royal Wedding unrolls in all its splendor and Markle Sparkle. I did not make that
up … is it a Cinderella beauty movement
… a majestic marijuana strain … a royal cocktail? Yep, too all.

We have the picture-perfect word to put you in a regal mood. Not one heard often in casual conversation, raise your head and
glass high in your own humble kingdom and think …
REGNANT (-nɘnt) adj.
– 1) reigning, ruling (a queen regnant);
2) of greatest power, predominant, 3) prevalent, widespread. [n.
regnancy; WW #164]
Whether enthralled with the fictional family of
Downton Abbey or real-life fairy
tales of Buckingham Palace, we never seem to get enough of regnant pomp and circumstance. Is
this a Downton or Buckingham royalty quote? “I will never be happy with anyone
else as long as you walk the earth.” Answer.
Will you host a formal gala and view the public airing of the impossibly saccharin Harry and Meghan’s lavish nuptials? Or eschew the regnant queen’s family to
hoist a pint at a local pub, like many of us commoners?
Word Challenge: REGNANT. Even if your crown
comes from Burger King, revel in its monarch history and consider the regal family’s burdens to bear, as you fit regnant into your week of imperial writings.
